Downloading and Exporting Drafts

Drafts can be downloaded from TrialGrid as an Architect Loader Spreadsheet (the file will be compressed in a zip archive when downloaded) which can be uploaded into Medidata Rave Architect, or Drafts can be exported directly from TrialGrid into Medidata Rave Architect.

Download a Draft into an Architect Loader Spreadsheet (ALS) File

You can download a Draft from TrialGrid into an spreadsheet, which can be uploaded into Medidata Rave.

  1. Navigate to the Draft home page.

  2. Click the Download button

  3. TrialGrid will check the contents of the Draft and show warnings if any of the following are true:

  • Primary Form not set

  • Default Matrix not set

  • Confirmation Message is empty

  • Signature Prompt is empty

  • Fields with missing Data Formats

  • Open Diagnostic findings

TrialGrid will not prevent you from downloading the Draft if there are warnings, but the Draft might not upload into Medidata Rave, or you might not be able to Publish or Push Versions in Rave.

  1. You can select which Draft objects to include in the download. By default, all are included.

    • If 'Test Cases' is selected, TrialGrid will create an additional worksheet called 'TG_UAT_TestCases' containing any Test Cases defined in the Draft.

    • If 'TrialGrid Extensions' is selected, TrialGrid will create additional worksheets called 'TG_DraftProperties', 'TG_FolderProperties', etc, containing any Custom Properties set for the Draft objects.

    • Medidata Rave will ignore these additional 'TG' worksheets when you upload the ALS.

Export a Draft direct to Medidata Rave Architect Projects and Global Libraries

A Draft can be exported directly to Medidata Rave Architect by using the Export Draft functionality. Medidata Rave Versions can be created, overwritten, published and pushed.

  1. Navigate to the Draft home page.

  2. Click the Download button

  3. TrialGrid will check the contents of the Draft and show warnings if any of the following are true:

  • Primary Form not set

  • Default Matrix not set

  • Confirmation Message is empty

  • Signature Prompt is empty

  • Fields with missing Data Formats

  • Open Diagnostic findings

TrialGrid will not prevent you from exporting the Draft if there are warnings, but the Draft might not upload into Medidata Rave, or there may be errors when publishing or pushing Versions in Medidata Rave.

  1. A wizard will guide you through the next steps:

    1. Select either import via iMedidata, iMedidata (innovate) or Rave Classic.

    2. If you select iMedidata or iMedidata (innovate) you will be prompted for your iMedidata username and password. If you use two-factor authentication on your iMedidata account you will be prompted to enter a two-factor token. You will then be prompted to enter the iMedidata Client name and Study Group for the Rave Architect URL you wish to access.

    3. If you select Rave you will be prompted to enter the Rave URL and then your Rave username and password. The Rave URL can be entered as the full URL (e.g. https://innovate.mdsol.com) or just the sub-domain (e.g. 'innovate').

  2. TrialGrid will look up the Projects and Global Libraries which you have access to in Architect and prompt you to select one.

  3. You can choose the following Draft options:

  • Create new Draft

  • Delete existing Draft

  • Merge into existing Draft

If you choose 'Create new Draft' you will be prompted to enter a name for the Draft to be created. The list of existing Draft names in Medidata Rave will be displayed for information.

If you choose to Delete or Merge you will be prompted to select an existing Draft in Medidata Rave.

Note

Please make sure you understand how Medidata Rave handles Draft merges before choosing the Merge option.

  1. If you selected iMedidata or iMedidata (innovate) in step 4, you can choose one of the following Version options. These are not available if you selected Rave in step 4.

  • Export draft only

  • Overwrite existing version: you will be prompted to select one of the Versions in Rave (if any) which can be overwritten

  1. You can select which Draft objects to include in the download. By default, all are included. TrialGrid Test Cases and Extensions cannot be selected, because Medidata Rave would ignore them even if included.

Once you have completed steps 1-5, TrialGrid will remember your selections, while you are logged into TrialGrid. If you open the Draft Export wizard again, you will not need to re-enter these details. If you wish to export to a different Medidata Rave URL or a different Project, you can click the 'Start again' button.

Note

TrialGrid supports logging in to iMedidata using all two-factor authentication methods: Okta, SMS, Email and Voice.

Note

TrialGrid does not store your iMedidata or Rave username/password in the TrialGrid database. It is used only for your login session - when you log out these credentials will be forgotten by the system and you will need to re-enter next time you login.
